We’re looking for people who genuinely care for and empathize with the homeless. We need people who are reliable, patient, and assertive. We background check everyone and we are working on setting up drug testing.

Job Descriptions

Night Hospitality/Security

Wage: $12 per hour

Hours Per Week: 32 to 40 hrs per week

Positions available: 3

Hours: 12 AM to 8 AM

The night security worker exists primarily to ensure the security of clients. Their responsibilities will include the following:

  • Watch security camera feeds and listen to the audio if not immediately in a tent.

  • Patrol inside and outside the shelter

  • Screen and register late arrivals

  • Enforce rules consistently according to employee manuals

  • Document any incidents and disciplinary actions

  • Keep guest confidentiality according to rules in the employee manual

  • Clean around the property

  • Brew coffee and set up a simple breakfast in the morning

Expectations

  • Must greet guests warmly

  • Must be level-headed in dealing with defiant, disrespectful, or obnoxious clients. Discipline should be handed out with respect but firmness.

  • Must write adequate reports with readable handwriting

  • Must be consistently on time

Morning Hospitality

Wage: $12 per hour

Hours Per Week: 32 to 40 hrs per week

Positions available: 1

Hours: 8 AM to 4 PM

Morning hospitality workers provide a variety of services to the homeless. There are always two hospitality workers on staff. One worker does a thorough cleaning of the overnight shelter. Their Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring clients on their chores and assisting with cleanup when necessary

  • Occasionally transporting clients to the hospital or appointments.

  • Keeping clients accountable for appointments and assigned tasks

  • Assisting clients in filling out forms, getting on zoom meetings for telehealth, and scheduling appointments.

  • Doing intake on new clients

  • Documenting services provided.

  • Monitoring clients to ensure that rules are being followed

  • Cooking and serving lunch

Expectations

  • Must have experience using email and using computers

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Must be able to make clients feel welcome

  • Must keep a nonjudgmental attitude toward clients

  • Must be consistently on time

  • Must write thorough and accurate reports

Evening Hospitality

Wage: $12 per hour

Hours Per Week: 32 to 40 hrs per week

Positions available: 1

Hours: 4 PM to 12AM

Evening workers are a blend of hospitality and security. They are responsible for checking people into the shelter and screening those individuals to ensure they will be safe. They also help serve the evening meals.

The evening navigators provide a variety of services to the homeless. They spend most of their time at the tents for the homeless but may begin their shift at the day shelter. They will do less casework than the morning navigators but will have the added task of doing intake for the overnight shelter. Intake includes assessing clients to make sure they are not overly intoxicated and making sure they are not bringing in any banned items.

  • Monitoring clients on their chores and assisting with cleanup when necessary

  • Evaluating clients to see if they are too intoxicated or need extra supervision

  • Making case-management plans with clients

  • Assisting clients in filling out forms

  • Writing referrals or contacting other agencies on behalf of the client

  • Entering data into case management software

  • Documenting services and making progress notes.

  • Monitoring clients to ensure that rules are being followed

  • Evaluating clients entering overnight shelters to ensure that they are not a risk to others

  • Searching client's belongings for banned items

Expectations

  • Must have experience using email and using computers

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Must be able to make clients feel welcome

  • Must keep a nonjudgmental attitude toward clients

  • Must be consistently on time

  • Must write thorough and accurate reports

  • Must be assertive enough to turn away clients who are not eligible for services.

Evening/Night Flex position

Wage: $12 per hour

Hours: 32 to 40 hrs per week

Positions available: 1

Hours: 4PM to 12 AM and 12 AM to 8AM

This position is a blend of the evening and night positions.
